Majk Stokes (pronounced "Mike") is a comedy singer-songwriter, poet, environmentalist, Quaker and caffeine addict. His show is built around two of his greatest passions, the environment and coffee, and takes in everything from archaeology and Celtic festivals to science fiction and superheroes, by way of relationships and root vegetables. His style is perhaps best described as a blend of Tom Lehrer, Bob Dylan and Bill Bailey- but without quite so many B's.
Hidden behind the gentle humour is a serious message. In his show he encourages his audience to remember the importance of bees, bears and trees, and to join a "quiet revolution" to help protect the planet. He will be offering small, ecologically-sustainable prizes to people who can demonstrate their commitment to the environment, and to rejecting such horrors as plastic drinking straws, disposable coffee cups and instant coffee.
Majk's first album, "Scratch One", was a fundraiser CD as part of an appeal that raised over £20,000 for an orphanage in Madagascar; his new album "Too Much Caffeine" and his first poetry book "Potatoes and Broken Hearts" are available now.
